On July 4, 2025, a significant legislative milestone was reached with the signing of the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” into law. This event coincided with the celebration of the United States’ 249th birthday.

The bill is seen as a fulfillment of promises made to voters who supported President Trump and a Republican majority in their efforts to cut taxes, secure borders, enhance American energy production, and eliminate wasteful spending. “Seventy-seven million Americans voted for President Trump and a Republican majority to cut taxes, secure our border, unleash American energy, restore peace through strength, eliminate wasteful spending and rebuild our economy,” stated Buchanan.

Buchanan expressed pride in his role on the House Ways and Means Committee in making permanent changes from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He emphasized that this legislation provides extensive tax relief across various demographics including families, workers, seniors, small businesses, and servicemembers. “The ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ is the definition of promises made and promises kept,” he said. “We are keeping the American Dream alive by restoring opportunity, rewarding hard work and putting Americans first.”

As Vice Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Buchanan played a pivotal role in advocating for this bill’s passage. He recently led an initiative involving 11 Florida Republicans urging quick approval of the act to deliver tax relief specifically aimed at Floridians while also bolstering Florida’s economy.
