City of Largo Passes Electric Vehicle Charging Station Requirements

City of Largo recently issued the following announcement.

The City of Largo is leading the charge to support the adoption of electric vehicles in the community as it passed an electric vehicle charging station ordinance. This ordinance will

require new development projects to install a limited number of charging stations in certain areas of the City. Having more charging stations will make it easier for residents, visitors,

and workers to own electric vehicles, which help improve air quality, fight climate change, reduce noise, and foster green economic development, among other benefits.

This ordinance applies to new- and re-development in Largo’s activity centers and multimodal corridors, which are areas that accommodate high concentrations of employment,

retail, residential, public uses, and multiple transportation options. The City hopes to also adopt city-wide electric vehicle charging station requirements next year, with lower

numbers of installations required outside of these areas.

Largo has also created an Electric Vehicle Information Hub which can be found at Largo.com/EV. You can find FAQs, answers to common electric vehicle myths, developer

resources and more. You can also share your feedback using the Electric Vehicle Readiness Survey to help inform future efforts that support electric vehicle adoption in the

community.
