32nd Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) On Tuesday, July 26
Old City Hall will shine purple on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The anniversary brings awareness to this landmark event and promotes equal opportunity for people with disabilities.
Paul Martinez, President of the National Federation of the Blind of Florida and an employee of the Tampa Convention Center, urges everyone to do their part to continue building an inclusive city that’s accessible to all.
“We must not forget the blind, the people in a wheelchair, the hard of hearing,” Martinez said. “We must think before we build: how can we make this accessible to that side of the community? And not forget all people in our community, because we’re out there.”
Year-round, the City of Tampa is fully committed to providing equitable access to the City’s programs and services.
Raquel Pancho, ADA Coordinator for the City of Tampa, facilitates the City’s efforts to ensure compliance under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Amendments (ADAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The mission is to ensure the City’s services and programs are accessible to persons with disabilities.
