Southeastern University sophomore Gabe Jacobs was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the Missouri Valley Invitational over the weekend.
Jacobs was the champion of the 285-pound bracket, scoring four falls in six matches. Jacobs downed No. 7 Joshua Isaac of Missouri Valley by first period fall to reach the championship, where he was a 2-1 winner over returning All-American Tommy Mommer.
This is the fifth time in seven weeks the Fire have had the AAC’s Wrestler of the Week and the fourth different wrestler from Southeastern to win the award.
Southeastern will host Bluefield for a dual match on Friday at 7 p.m.
