Largo Launches a Free Rain Barrel Program and Event

0Comments

Following the success of the City of Largo’s free residential Composting Program, the city is launching a pilot rain barrel program to help residents become more sustainable. Free rain barrels will be delivered to resident households after attending a virtual kick-off event on Saturday, July 23 at 9am. Once delivered, barrels can be used to collect rainwater for use in yards and gardens. This helps reduce the use of potable water, improve the quality of local waterways, and reduce residential utility bills.

The virtual kick-off event will be held in partnership with the UF/IFAS Pinellas County Extension Office. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to set up and use the rain barrels and ask questions to the experts. Largo residents who attend will have priority in receiving a free rain barrel which will be delivered to their home afterward. Rain barrels are limited, and distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Visit Largo.com/RainBarrel to learn more about the event and to sign up for a free rain barrel. For questions about the program or event, contact Rainbarrel@largo.com or call 727-586-7491 Ext. 7492. To learn more about sustainability initiatives throughout Largo, visit OurFutureLargo.com.
