Rep. Vern Buchanan, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, shared a series of updates on July 30, 2025, covering topics from economic growth to community engagement and public safety.
In his first post at 15:19 UTC, Buchanan highlighted recent economic figures and legislative efforts by the House GOP: “America is back. In Q2, the U.S. economy grew by 3.0%. We’re seeing real growth driven by the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” the foundation of @HouseGOP’s America First agenda.”
Later that day at 17:56 UTC, he detailed his plans for constituent outreach during August: “During August, I’m spending time back home meeting directly with the people I represent, from hosting our annual District Law Enforcement Awards to hosting roundtables with small businesses and veterans.”
By evening at 19:35 UTC, Buchanan addressed a recent incident involving law enforcement in Tampa: “Please join me and Sandy in praying for Officer Jordan Laupert, who was hospitalized after this morning’s shooting in Tampa and for our community. This wave of violence against police officers must end. Congress must pass my Thin Blue Line Act.”
Vern Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th District in Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, he graduated from Cleary University and later earned a degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
