Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing healthcare investment, political recognition, and international relations.
On September 20, 2025, Buchanan highlighted recent legislative action: “.@HouseGOP delivered the largest investment to health care in history, $50B, through the Working Families Tax Cuts. As Chair of the @WaysandMeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I’m proud to lead the effort to expand access, lower costs and improve patient care.”
The following day, he commented on a House vote involving conservative activist Charlie Kirk: “Honoring Charlie Kirk and condemning political violence should not be controversial. It’s disappointing that over half of @HouseDemocrats refused to honor Charlie’s legacy of promoting open debate.” This statement was posted on September 21, 2025.
On September 22, 2025, Buchanan addressed U.S.-Argentina relations: “Thank you @POTUS and @SecScottBessent for your leadership. Argentina is a crucial ally in Latin America, and we must continue to support their stability, growth and partnership with the United States. “
Vern Buchanan has served in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan graduated from Cleary University and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
