Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has represented Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress since 2007, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing federal worker policies, tax relief legislation, and public safety concerns in Washington, D.C.
On September 6, 2025, Buchanan commented on changes to federal workplace arrangements: “.@POTUS fights for the taxpayers who pay federal workers’ salaries. That’s why he ended Biden’s remote work abuse and required bureaucrats to return to the office. Today, federal workers are twice as likely to be working in person.”
A day later, on September 7, Buchanan highlighted legislative efforts by House Republicans regarding tax policy: “.@HouseGOP delivered historic tax relief for working families. Under our Working Families Tax Cut bill, Americans will see: A 15% tax cut for families earning $15K–$80K. Permanent child tax credit helping 40M+ families Expanded childcare and permanent paid leave credit”
On September 8, he addressed a recent violent incident in Washington: “The tragic murder of Capitol Hill intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym is a heartbreaking reminder of the violence in our nation’s capital. @POTUS is making it crystal clear: the lawlessness in D.C. ends now.”
Buchanan has served continuously as a U.S. Representative since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, he holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
