Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district, shared a series of tweets on July 2, 2025, regarding the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” This legislative initiative aims to address various national issues such as senior financial stability, border security, and economic growth.
In his first tweet posted at 18:54 UTC, Buchanan emphasized the importance of providing financial stability for America’s seniors. He stated that they have “worked hard and deserve financial stability,” highlighting that the bill offers targeted relief to help seniors afford essentials like housing, food, and medicine while combating inflation attributed to the current administration.
Later at 20:00 UTC, Buchanan addressed border security efforts under President Biden’s administration. He remarked that “@POTUS is delivering on his promise to secure the border,” noting that the bill will support this by launching “the largest deportation effort in American history,” which he believes will restore law and order across the country.
In a subsequent tweet at 21:02 UTC, Buchanan discussed economic policies included in the bill. He asserted that “@HouseGOP is delivering real relief” by restoring pro-growth tax policies. He expressed his commitment to fighting in Congress for full expensing to ensure small businesses do not suffer from increased costs.
Vern Buchanan has been serving in Congress since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris. Born in Detroit in 1951, he resides in Sarasota and holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
