Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of tweets highlighting various political and economic issues on June 8 and 9, 2025. Buchanan, who succeeded Katherine Harris in Congress in 2007, addressed the impact of policies from former President Donald Trump, law enforcement measures concerning immigration, and job security through legislative efforts.
On June 8, Buchanan emphasized the significant economic impact attributed to Trump’s policies by stating that “The Trump effect is real! Trillions of dollars are pouring into the United States, creating American jobs and driving innovation.” He noted substantial investments from major corporations: “$500B from Apple, $500B from NVIDIA and $150B from IBM” here.
Later that day, Buchanan took a strong stance against violence targeting ICE officers. He asserted that “Lawless thugs who attack @ICEgov officers should be put behind bars IMMEDIATELY,” stressing that such acts of violence have no place in America. He advocated for legislative action with his call to pass “the One Big, Beautiful Bill to fund ICE and secure our border” here.
On June 9, Buchanan underscored the potential risk to millions of jobs without the passage of what he termed the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” He warned that “over 6 million jobs would be at risk” without this bill. Highlighting bipartisan commitment to protecting employment across various sectors such as construction and technology, he reiterated that “Our bill puts American workers first” here.
Vern Buchanan has been an active political figure since his entry into Congress in 2007 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, he holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
