Vern Buchanan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. Buchanan, who succeeded Katherine Harris in Congress and has roots in both Detroit and Sarasota, highlighted his stance on law enforcement, international trade negotiations, and domestic manufacturing.
On June 11, 2025, Buchanan addressed the issue of illegal immigration with a tweet calling for immediate action against individuals involved in violent activities. He stated: “Lawless illegals who are attacking law enforcement officers and destroying property in LA should be arrested and deported immediately.” He also expressed pride in supporting Representative Dan Crenshaw’s RIOT Act aimed at holding such individuals accountable.
Later that day, Buchanan praised a recent trade agreement involving China. At 16:35 UTC he tweeted: “.@POTUS brought China to the table, and won.” He described the deal as a “masterclass in negotiation,” emphasizing its importance for securing rare earth minerals vital to the U.S. economy.
In another tweet posted at 17:07 UTC on June 11th, Buchanan advocated for bolstering domestic production with his U.S. Bicycle Production and Assembly Act alongside Representative Thompson. He stated: “We must restore ‘Made in the USA.'” The act aims to support American workers by ensuring fair competition for American bicycle businesses.
