Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on August 7, 2025, addressing economic investment and law enforcement issues.
In a post from August 7 at 18:53 UTC, Buchanan credited recent economic growth to current trade policies, stating, “Thanks to @POTUS’s leadership and America First trade policies, Apple is investing another $100 BILLION in the US, creating jobs, securing supply chains and driving innovation. This is what America First policies deliver!”
Later that evening at 20:06 UTC, Buchanan responded to an incident involving law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania: “Another ambush. This time, two Pennsylvania State Troopers were shot in the line of duty. Enough is enough. We must pass my Thin Blue Line Act and protect our officers. Please join me and Sandy in praying for the state troopers and their loved ones.”
At 21:49 UTC on the same day, Buchanan highlighted local law enforcement recognition efforts while again calling for legislative action: “Proud to recognize more than 50 of FL-16’s finest at our 15th Annual Congressional Law Enforcement Awards. As we honor their courage and heroism, I urge Congress to pass my Thin Blue Line Act. If you target our heroes, you will face the full force of the law.”
Vern Buchanan has served as the representative for Florida’s 16th district since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and now residing in Sarasota, Buchanan graduated from Cleary University with a BA in 1975 and later earned a degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
