Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has represented Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress since 2007, posted a series of updates on social media highlighting recent legislative actions and economic developments.
On September 3, 2025, Buchanan shared news regarding domestic investment, stating: “Over $8 trillion in new U.S. investment. Thanks to America First trade policies, companies are bringing manufacturing back home and creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying American jobs.”
The following day, he commented on the passage of a significant appropriations act by the House GOP: “.@HouseGOP is restoring American energy dominance and strengthening our national security Today, we passed the Energy and Water Appropriations Act, which prioritizes U.S. nuclear deterrence and reins in wasteful spending, all while keeping America competitive.” This legislation aims to bolster nuclear deterrence capabilities while managing federal expenditures related to energy.
Later on September 4, Buchanan addressed healthcare delivery innovations: “23 hospitals in Florida and 200+ nationwide rely on the Hospital at Home program to deliver high-quality care at lower costs. With 140+ health organizations urging action, it’s time for Congress to extend this life-saving program for five more years.”
Vern Buchanan has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives and holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy. Born in Detroit in 1951, Buchanan currently resides in Sarasota.
