Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted his legislative activities and local engagements through a series of posts on social media.
On August 8, 2025, Buchanan posted about recent federal policy achievements, stating, “From trade deals to our ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill,’ @POTUS is delivering on the American people’s mandate. Lower taxes Secure borders America First trade 200 days of winning.”
Later that day, he recognized local law enforcement officers and promoted his proposed legislation. On August 8, he wrote, “This week, I hosted our annual Congressional Law Enforcement Awards, recognizing over 50 of our area’s finest for going above and beyond the call of duty. I also held a press conference to call for the passage of my Thin Blue Line Act. We must stand with those who protect us.”
On August 9, Buchanan addressed emergency response services and bipartisan cooperation: “It is crucial to keep emergency services fast and reliable. That’s why I am proud to join the NextGen 911 Caucus with @repkatcammack. Our caucus is committed to working to make sure every American can count on help when they need it most.”
Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th District since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and was born in Detroit in 1951 before moving to Sarasota. His educational background includes degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
