U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, who serves Florida’s 16th district, has recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative developments and recognize the contributions of local workers and businesses.
On August 4, 2025, Buchanan posted about the House GOP’s latest legislative initiative, stating, “.@HouseGOP’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” is pro-worker, pro-growth and POPULAR. The @USChamber polling has confirmed: 67% support permanent R&D deductions 64% back the business interest deduction 62% favor 100% expensing of equipment”.
The following day, on August 5, he turned attention to local agriculture during National Farmers Market Week. In a tweet recognizing the importance of local producers, Buchanan wrote: “Florida’s farmers and small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. During National Farmers Market Week, let’s celebrate the hardworking families who make it all possible. “
Later that same day, Buchanan addressed tax relief for service industry employees in Florida with another post: “The “No Tax on Tips” provision I fought to include is now law thanks to our “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” Now, over 193,000 tipped workers in Florida will keep more of what they earn! Thank you, @SpeakerJohnson, for highlighting how this delivers relief to hardworking Americans.”
Vern Buchanan has been representing Florida’s 16th district in Congress since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota at age 71, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
