Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on February 25, 2026, highlighting both national pride and recent legislative developments.
In one post, Buchanan welcomed athletes to Washington: “We are a nation of winners. Proud to welcome the U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey Team to the Capitol tonight for the State of the Union. They have made our country proud and represent the very best of American grit and determination. “ (February 25, 2026).
Turning to economic policy, Buchanan wrote about new tax measures: “Tax relief is here. @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts mean families keep more of what they earn, seniors receive historic tax relief and small businesses have certainty to grow. That is real economic prosperity.” (February 25, 2026).
He also addressed changes affecting hourly workers: “No tax on tips or overtime. Servers, nurses, law enforcement officers and hourly workers are finally keeping more of what they earn under @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts.” (February 25, 2026).
Buchanan has served in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. He holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
