Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has represented Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress since 2007, posted a series of updates on August 1, 2025, highlighting local business impacts from tax policy, ongoing tax-free school supply initiatives, and paying tribute to a prominent Floridian.
In his first post at 14:20 UTC, Buchanan shared a story about a constituent: “Jon from Palmetto is part of the fourth generation of his family to grow tomatoes that are sold across the U.S.
@HouseGOP’s tax cuts for small businesses let his local business immediately depreciate the cost of new equipment, saving money that he reinvests into his workers.”
Later in the day at 15:21 UTC, Buchanan informed families about back-to-school savings: “All month long, families can save on tax-free school supplies, from personal computers to bookbags and clothing.

At 18:49 UTC on the same day, Buchanan commemorated Hulk Hogan’s legacy with the following message: “Remembering a Florida legend, Hulk Hogan inspired generations with his larger-than-life presence and unwavering spirit.
He will always be remembered as a true American icon. May he rest in peace.”
Vern Buchanan has been serving in Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and resides in Sarasota. Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
