Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted legislative efforts and constituent engagement on his social media account.
On April 9, 2026, Buchanan posted about tax relief for American workers, stating: “More than 3.5 million Americans have already claimed No Tax on Tips, with workers taking home about $1,300 more on average. That’s @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts delivering meaningful relief where it matters most.”
Later that day, he shared details of a meeting with constituents focused on rare disease research: “Great to recently meet with constituents from the Angelman Syndrome Foundation to discuss efforts to advance research and improve outcomes for families. As Chair of the @WaysandMeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I’m proud to support innovation in rare disease care.” This post underscores Buchanan’s role as chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee.
In another tweet from April 9, Buchanan addressed support for law enforcement and first responders: “Law enforcement and first responders who put in overtime to protect and serve our communities shouldn’t have to pay taxes on those extra hours of service. Thanks to the No Tax on Overtime provision in the Working Families Tax Cuts, they will get to keep more of what they earn.”
Vern Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th District since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris in Congress. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University (1975) and University of Detroit Mercy (1986).
