Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 27, 2025, highlighting recent developments in trade and family policy.
In his first post of the day, Buchanan expressed support for American trade interests, writing: “I will always believe in free and fair trade that puts America first. Thanks to @POTUS’ leadership, Australia is reopening its doors to U.S. beef, a huge victory for our American ranchers and our economy. “ (July 27, 2025).
Later the same day, he marked Parents’ Day with a message about supporting families: “On Parents’ Day, we celebrate the dedication and strength of American families. As a grandfather of 10, I will always fight for hardworking families. That’s why I voted to pass the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ to strengthen the Child Tax Credit and ease the burden on working” (July 27, 2025).
Buchanan also addressed international trade relations in another post: “.@POTUS has secured the largest U.S.–EU trade deal in history, delivering billions in investment and expanding market access for the U.S. I had the pleasure of discussing this vision during my recent bipartisan delegation visit to the EU—proud to see it come to fruition.” (July 27, 2025).
Vern Buchanan has served as Florida’s 16th district representative since replacing Katherine Harris in Congress in 2007 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota at age 71, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and University of Detroit Mercy.
