Rep. Vern Buchanan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, addressed several key national issues in a series of posts on February 25, 2026.

In one post, Buchanan emphasized unity and the importance of civil discourse in American society. He wrote, “America is one nation under God.  Political violence has no place in our country. Our Republic depends on peaceful debate, respect for the Constitution and the rule of law.  As @POTUS calls for unity tonight, we must reject hatred and condemn violence.” (posted on February 25, 2026).

Addressing economic policy and senior citizens’ welfare in another message posted later that evening, Buchanan stated, “Historic relief for seniors is here.  Nearly 88% of Americans receiving Social Security will pay no federal tax on their benefits thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts.  We are protecting retirement security and supporting those who built this country.” (posted on February 25, 2026).

In a subsequent post reflecting on recent remarks by President Biden (@POTUS), Buchanan noted positive trends in the economy and outlook for working families: “The American dream is making a comeback. Tonight, @POTUS laid out a clear vision rooted in growth, security and opportunity. Working families are seeing real relief and renewed confidence in our future.” (posted on February 25, 2026).

Buchanan was born in Detroit in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota at age 71. He has served continuously as U.S. Representative since replacing Katherine Harris nearly two decades ago and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. He holds degrees from Cleary University (BA) and University of Detroit Mercy.
