Tampa University issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.
The University of Tampa rowing program has announced its crew club practices for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Fully registered UT students may learn how to row -- no rowing experience needed.
World-class rower and Head Coach Bill Dunlap will start from the beginning in this program, which is open to all full-time undergraduate women. Practice begins the week of September 13 -- Monday through Friday practices will begin at 4 p.m., each day, and conclude at 5:30 p.m.
Anyone interested is requested to report to the boathouse for practices, which is located behind the Macdonald-Kelce Library on campus. Normal exercise attire is recommended -- Participants will not need to attend every day, as you are asked to attend as your schedule permits.
This is a non-competitive crew club that is designed to teach beginners the basics of the sport.
Tryouts for the women's varsity intercollegiate team will occur in late October. Unless you have previous rowing experience, you will need to participate in this club prior to tryouts for the competitive team.
Men with high school experience may join the men's club, which will start at the same time.
