St. Petersburg College recently issued the following announcement.
More than 30 companies from the Clearwater area will be at the Clearwater Job Fair, looking to hire for immediate openings. The event, hosted by St. Petersburg College and CareerSource Pinellas, will be held on Sept. 30 from 12-4 p.m. at SPC’s EpiCenter, 13805 58th Street N., Clearwater.
Belinthia Berry, Acting Dean of Workforce Development at SPC, said that anyone who is unemployed, looking to change careers or nab their first job should attend.
“The job market is in favor of those looking, and employers are in a position to hire those with the skills needed to do the job,” Berry said.
Job seekers will find human resources professionals from multiple industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, government, information technology and hospitality. There will be opportunities for both full- and part-time work.
Ahmed Amer, an Employment Representative at CareerSource Pinellas, said that this isn’t a typical job fair, but is a more curated event.
“We’re going outside the box,” Amer said. “We’re focused on results, so we have invited companies that we know are hiring, and based on labor market information, will be able meet pay expectations and offer positions that can potentially create careers for job seekers.”
SPC will have staff on hand at the event to discuss short and long-term training programs at the college, so attendees have a real opportunity to get hired, and/or change careers. SPC will also be offering other types of assistance to job seekers.
“The College will provide resume review, interview tips and a ready room to assist those who need a suit or clothing pieces to dress your best,” Berry said. “We hope the support we offer to our students and the community will be key to them getting jobs.”
Since employers are looking to hire, everyone should come with an up-to-date resume and dress for success.
