University of South Florida Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 26.

The University of South Florida women's golf team wrapped up the Fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday with a runner-up finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The 16-

team field played 54 holes over two days at Turtle Point Golf Course.

Rounds one and two were slated to be played on Monday, but the final few holes were suspended due to darkness. The teams finished those holes on Tuesday morning followed

by the final 18.

North Florida won the tournament with a team score of 856 (-8) followed by South Florida at three-over-par 867.

"Coach Stevens and I are incredibly proud of the team's effort," said head coach Erika Brennan. "When the wind came up today, they hung in there and rallied late to close out the

round. It was a great finale to our fall, and we are already amped up for February."

USF shot even par to lead the field on the par 3 holes and carded 40 total birdies at the event.

Melanie Green (Medina, N.Y.) tallied rounds of 72 (E), 67 (-5) and 72 to finish five-under-par. Her score of 211 was good for third place individually. Green's nine rounds of par or

better this season lead the team.

Ashley Zagers (Oldsmar) tied for 19th individually with a score of 219. She carded rounds of 70 (-2), 74 (+2) and 75 (+3). Her 40 total pars over the course of 54 holes were sixth

best in the field and paced the Bulls.

Leonor Medeiros (Palmela, Portugal) posted a strong finish with five birdies in Tuesday's final round to shoot a 71 (-1). She carded a total score of 221 to tie for 25th individually.

Ana Maria Barriga (Neiva, Colombia) tied for 43rd with a score of 226 and Morgan Baxendale (Windermere) tied for 48th with a tally of 227.
