UT Concludes Fall Season in Top-10

Tampa University issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.

The University of Tampa men's golf team played its fifth and final tournament of the fall season, coming in 10th overall at the annual McDonough Cup.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

UT Finish: 10th, 896 strokes, +32 (298-298-300)

Team Champion: Nova Southeastern University, 844 strokes, -20

Host: Rollins College

TAMPA LINEUP:

George Eubank Jr. | 35th overall, 221 (+5)

Joonas Turba | 40th overall, 222 (+6)

Alex Mercier | 50th overall, 226 (+10)

Aadam Syed | 52nd overall, 227 (+11)

Nathan Piatt | 74th overall, 241 (+25)

OTHER NOTABLES:

For the first time since the 2021-22 season opener, Eubank, Jr., was the top UT golfer.

Leading the team two times this fall, Eubank, Jr., was second to Syed, who was the top Spartan in three tournaments.

Eubank, Jr., carded a team-best 72 in Tuesday's final round.

Turba turned in his top effort as a Spartan, ranking second on the team after registering a pair of 73 rounds on Monday.

Head coach Gary Hilton registered Bo Wardynski as an individual.

A total of 12 teams competed.

Javier Calles of Nova Southeastern was the medalist for the second straight tournament. He finished with a 208, or -8, to win by one stroke.

Joining the Spartans, team champion Nova Southeastern and host Rollins (7) from the Sunshine State Conference were Palm Beach Atlantic (4), Embry-Riddle (8), Eckerd (9) and Florida Tech (11). 

UT entered the tournament ranked No. 49 in the Golfstat NCAA Division II rankings. Nova Southeastern is listed at No. 19, while Indianapolis and Flagler were tabbed No. 35 and No. 34 respectively.
