FIRE FOCUS:

SEU opened SUN play this past Saturday with a 101-86 win over Ave Maria inside The Furnace.

Fire junior forward Riley Minix was named SUN Player of the Week, after scoring 28 points, hauling in 12 rebounds, and dishing out five assists versus the Gyrenes.

Through four games, Minix is averaging 20.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. Additionally, Riley is shooting an impressive 69.2% (36-52) from the field this season.

As a team, the Fire have eclipsed the 100-point mark twice already this season. Southeastern's 100.5 points per game average ranks the program fifth in the NAIA.

On the boards, SEU is out-rebounding teams by an average of 50.8-32 per contest.

FIRE ALL-TIME:

The all-time series between Southeastern and Coastal Georgia is even at 5-5.

The Mariners took two of the three meetings between the two programs during the 2020-21 season.

The Night Hawks hold a slight edge over the Fire 15-14 all-time.

Thomas also took two of the three meetings from Southeastern last season.

THE MARINERS:

After starting the season 3-1, Coastal Georgia has endured back-to-back losses, including a 79-63 loss at home in the Mariners' SUN opener to Keiser last Saturday.

Offensively, the Mariners look to trend things in an upward direction, as they are shooting 35.4% from the field as a team this season, including 26.4% from behind the arc.

Coastal Georgia's SUN Player to Watch was senior forward Elijah Goodman, who is averaging a team-best 14.8 points per game and is bringing down 6.7 rebounds per contest as well.

CCGA senior guard Jordan Parks is also compiling a nice start to his season, averaging 13.2 points per game, and averaging a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game.

 THE NIGHT HAWKS:

At 5-2, Thomas is off to its best start through seven games since the 2016-17 season. The Night Hawks have won two-straight this season, with one of those wins being a head-turning 64-62 over Keiser in their SUN opener this past Thursday in Thomasville.

Although the Night Hawks are averaging just 65.7 points per game, their defensive front has been stingy to start the year, allowing opponents to average just 68.9 points per game and averaging 8.7 steals per contest as a unit.

Thomas' SUN Player to Watch was senior guard transfer Justin Figueroa, who joined TU this season from NCAA Division II Clayton State. Figueroa has made an immediate impact for the Night Hawks, averaging a team-best 11.4 points per game.

Senior guard Tim Williamson is another key component for the Night Hawks, averaging 11 points per game, a team-high 4.3 rebounds per game, and having dished out 19 assists on the year.
