City of Largo recently issued the following announcement.
Help reduce light pollution in the community and get the chance to see more stars in our night sky. "Discover the Night" the week of April 22-30 as the City of Largo celebrates International Dark Sky Week.
What is light pollution? Any artificial light that is not needed can be considered a pollutant with negative impacts on humans and wildlife. It causes higher utility bills, blocks our view of the stars, impacts sleep cycles and even animal migration. It is estimated that 83% of the global population lives underneath a light-polluted sky. The night sky, filled with stars, is a precious natural resource that has been celebrated for thousands of years.
GET INVOLVED
Join our community to celebrate Largo’s Dark Sky by turning off your lights for 15 minutes and Discover the Night. Step outside, look, listen, and share what you see with the City on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the hashtag #LargoDarkSky.
