Southeastern University recently issued the following announcement.
The Fire track and field team won three of the four Sun Conference weekly honors for their performances at the Spikes Classic over the weekend.
DeMarco Lemons, Joseph Taylor, and Miyah Ford were selected as the men's field, men's track, and women's field athletes of the week, respectively.
Lemons took first overall in the shot put with a throw of 14.85m as well as a first-place finish in the discus with a throw of 46.58m.
Taylor took first overall in the men's 400m with a new personal best time of 47.98. That time qualified him for an "A" standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, a Sun
Conference No. 3 ranking, and comes in at No. 10 in the NAIA.
Ford walked away with two second place finishes including the triple jump with an 11.49m effort and the long jump with a jump of 5.23m.
The Fire will next compete at the South Florida Invitational and IMG Academy this weekend as they prepare for the Sun Conference Outdoor Championships.
