Horizon Construction Neighborhood Meeting

The City of Largo is set to break ground this fall on the new Horizon West Bay project coming to Downtown Largo. On Thursday, September 29 from 5:30-6:30pm, neighbors and residents are invited to a project information session hosted at Woodrow Park, 290 3rd St NW. Community members interested in learning more about project goals, timelines, and construction routes can stop by anytime and talk with the project management team. Construction will create road closures on 4th St. NW, 5th St. NW, and 1st Ave. NW starting in Winter 22/23 and remaining closed for the duration of construction. Vehicles will not be able to turn east on West Bay from Ridge Rd., 6th St., or 1st St. The most up-to-date information including detour maps will be posted on HorizonWestBay.com.

More about the Horizon West Bay Project

In 2019, the City of Largo began efforts to develop a new project downtown that would include City Hall. The current building on Highland Ave is no longer suitable due to upcoming costly repairs, lack of resistance to storm damage and flooding, and limitations for projected growth. The Horizon West Bay project is designed as a mixed-use project with retail space, City Hall, and a parking garage available to the public. The facility will be located on the northern 400 block of West Bay Drive. With groundbreaking set to start in the Winter of 2022, the City looks forward to opening the doors to the public in late 2024.

The relocation of City Hall is aligned with the City's investment in the redevelopment of the West Bay Drive downtown corridor. This new central facility, Horizon West Bay, is intended to promote downtown development as a mixed-use space (e.g., City facility, private businesses, and public use) and will align with the City's strategic initiatives of public health and safety, sustainability, and community pride.
