It was an all-Gators showdown in the final match of qualifying at the Lubbock 15K, where Alicia Dudeney managed to qualify for the main draw of the tournament.
During the first match of the day, the Florida teammates of Dudeney and Bente Spee went to battle for a spot in the main draw of the tournament. It was a quick start for Dudeney, who pulled out to a one set lead after taking the opener, 6-4. Spee did not back down during set two, evening the match with her fellow sophomore behind a 6-4 effort of her own. In similar fashion to Monday's contest, ten points wasn't enough to decide the third set tiebreaker, as Dudeney had to put together back-to-back points late in the set to claim the match, 12-10.
With her victory, Dudeney is now slated to matchup with Brandy Walker in the round of 32 in Lubbock on Wednesday.
