A recent study by the national law firm Edwards Kirby revealed that more than 900,000 businesses in Florida are minority owned. St. Petersburg College aims to expand its business opportunities and relationships with minority-owned businesses by collaborating with diverse business suppliers at their Supplier Diversity Information Session on Sept. 22.
At the event, the college’s Finance and Business Operations team will share how to do business with the college as a vendor or partner on upcoming capital and technology projects. Local businesses are encouraged to attend the Supplier Diversity Information Session on Sept. 22 from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. at the SPC Downtown Center, room 223, 244 2nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
At the event, Janette Hunt, SPC’s Vice President of Finance and Business Operations, and several speakers will provide insight to local businesses about how to collaborate with SPC.
“St Petersburg College has made an intentional effort to focus on supplier diversity, and we’re excited to enhance our focus on this initiative and build sustainable partnerships,” Hunt said. “The college’s leadership supports the efforts of making sure minority and women-owned businesses have opportunities to make their endeavors successful.”
Through SPC’s supplier diversity initiative, more diverse business enterprises will not only have greater opportunities, but they will increase their business presence by supporting community activities, education and training.
Attendees can also explore SPC’s new Center for Economic Impact and Inclusion (CEII), a think tank that addresses important economic inclusion and community-based issues. CEII will serve as a training center and learning space for understanding diversity and inclusion and the economic implications on the local community.
