Southeastern University's men's soccer team ended their 5-0-1 run after a 2-0 defeat on the road against the #6 ranked Keiser University Seahawks, falling to 7-3-3 on the season.
The first half remained scoreless through 20 minutes of play, until a penalty kick from Adrian Camacho in the 24th minute put the Seahawks up 1-0. Despite three yellow cards, the Fire proved to be an even match for the Seahawks and remained in contention for the second half.
The second half proved costly, however, as Keiser put up a strong defensive effort to hold the Fire to just one shot in the entire second half. The matchup remained a one-score affair until Rodrigo Montez Silva, took advantage of a Carlos Curado deflection that gave him the ball and an open net in the 78th minute to put the Seahawks up 2-0.
Despite a couple opportunities in the box and four corner kicks, the Fire could not capitalize and suffered their third loss of the season and their 15th in this matchup.
Southeastern will return home for Senior Day, to host Ave Maria University this Saturday, October 22nd at 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Complex.
