No legal prohibition to voting on this issue
There is currently no legal prohibition to voting on Hillsborough County’s transportation surtax referendum, and voters may continue to cast their ballots.
The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has appealed the court order that would remove the referendum from the ballot and filed a notice suspending the order. Taking this action prevents the order from going into effect, which allows Hillsborough County voters to continue to vote.
Hillsborough County intends to take every possible legal action to ensure the citizens’ right to vote for or against this important issue.
