200 Trees Distributed in our Community
The City of Tampa is partnering with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, The Arbor Day Foundation, and State Farm to hold a Fruit and Canopy Tree Giveaway at Fair Oaks Park on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
There will be more than 200 trees available for the community while supplies last, which will leave everlasting impacts.
“Trees are a valuable resource that puts nature into our daily lives," Mayor Jane Castor said. "They add beauty to our neighborhoods, provide shade, and bring people together. The trees we plant today will continue to grow with our city, sowing the seeds of a greener future for generations to come.”
While many of the trees have already been claimed, residents can make a reservation for the remaining trees through Event Brite.
Tampa Parks and Recreation is currently hosting multiple tree initiatives to enhance community green spaces.
The City of Tampa has been called a 'world leader for trees' because of its thriving urban tree canopy. According to an MIT Treepedia study, the City of Tampa has the #1 highest ‘Green View Index’ (at 36.1 percent) compared to other major cities around the globe.
