The City of Largo, along with municipalities across the United States, received American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support local recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen overall community health and resilience. In February 2022, the Largo City Commission prioritized ARPA funding during an annual retreat with a focus on city facility and infrastructure projects, critical services addressing basic needs from housing to mental health to internet access, as well as $1 million for community-led grants.

As a follow-up to the community-led grant funding priority, City team members created a Safety Net Grant program for local nonprofits that support Largo residents. In December 2022, $650,000 in grant funding was awarded to 31 nonprofits. Collectively, these nonprofit organizations provide a wide array of services to address mental health, food security, education across all ages, housing support, domestic violence support, substance use services, childcare, and eldercare.

Congratulations to the following local nonprofits that successfully applied for this funding! We appreciate all that you do to build the community of choice in Tampa Bay.
