January 8 @ 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Global Tapestries examines the significance of fabric and textiles in works by Miguel Aguirre, Glenda León, Christopher Myers, Reynier Levya Novo, Yinka Shonibare, and Barthelemy Toguo. Shonibare and Toguo’s sculptures speak to textile history and socio-political links between Europe, Africa, and America. Aguirre and León create new artworks inspired by design and political events. Climate change and the legacy of quilt making inform Myers’ monumental tapestries.

Join Joanna Robotham, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, for a special series of three Sunday gallery talks highlighting the artists featured in Time for Change: Art and Social Unrest in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection. Featuring over 50 artists from around the globe, Time for Change looks at how artists explore conflicts and contradictions of contemporary society, as well as analyze historical events and reframes them within the present.

Sunday Sessions are offered free with regular admission
