After a nationwide search for a candidate to fill a Chief Nursing Administrator position in November of 2022, we are happy to announce that we have hired Dr. Mark Reinhardt to take the role.
Officially beginning on March 11, Dr. Reinhardt serves as a visionary leader for all of the university’s nursing programs, faculty, and students. As the Chief Nursing Administrator, he will maintain the oversight of disciplinary partnerships, initiatives, and projects, as well as the prioritization of excellence in program design across all deliveries at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
One of Dr. Reinhardt’s first objectives within his new position is to launch two programs within the College of Natural & Health Sciences — a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus in behavioral health, and a dual Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration degree. Pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Florida Board of Nursing, Dr. Reinhardt also plans to introduce an Associate Degree in Nursing in the fall of 2023.
Get to Know Dr. Reinhardt
Prior to coming to SEU, Dr. Reinhardt served as a professor and the associate dean (chief academic officer) of Valdosta State University’s School of Nursing in Georgia. He was also the dean of the University of Lynchburg’s School of Nursing and the department chair and coordinator of the family nurse practitioner program at Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi.
In addition to his background in higher education, Dr. Reinhardt is a retired army officer with more than 20 years of active duty. He has served in deployed settings, combat support hospitals, and fixed hospitals, in positions ranging from medic to chief of emergency and ambulatory nursing. He was the officer-in-charge of the Emergency Department in Iraq and during Hurricane Katrina. He has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Expert Field Medal Badge, and more.
Dr. Reinhardt earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Belmont University, a master’s degree in nursing as a clinical nurse specialist, and a post-master’s certificate as an emergency nurse practitioner from the University of Texas Health Science Center—Houston. He also received a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University and is currently enrolled in the Juris Master’s program with a focus in health law at Liberty University.
