U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Brandon) marked the announcement of a new trade agreement between the United States and the European Union, calling it a significant step for American businesses and workers.
Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th congressional district and has served in Congress since 2007, highlighted the importance of this development. “This historic agreement will help level the playing field for American workers and farmers by removing tariffs and reducing barriers to U.S. exports,” Buchanan stated. “It is a major win for our economy and strengthens our relationship with Europe.”
The congressman has been active on international trade issues throughout his tenure. He also noted that similar deals have been reached with countries such as Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Buchanan was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951 and resides in Sarasota. Before his time in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives. He holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
