Unpermitted Work Can Affect Your Home Plans

Free webinar offers tips to avoid potential permitting pitfalls on your home plans in unincorporated Hillsborough County

Thinking of selling or refinancing your home? Don’t let an open permit or unpermitted work throw a wrench in your plans!

Hillsborough County will host a live webinar to discuss the importance of completing the permit process in unincorporated Hillsborough County. The session is being presented as part of the Development Services Breakroom webinar series and will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, from 11 a.m. to noon.

The Development Services department’s building and construction services team will discuss the importance of ensuring all home improvements are appropriately permitted. Information presented will explain how to obtain a permit if work has already been completed and how to ensure the closure of a completed permit. The webinar will close with a brief question-and-answer session.

This is an opportunity for homeowners, real estate professionals, building industry professionals, neighborhood association members, and other interested residents to familiarize themselves with home safety procedures and potentially avoid unnecessary delays during the sale or refinance of a home often caused by open permits or unpermitted work.

Registration for the free webinar can be completed online. For those interested but unable to attend, a recording of the session will be made available on HCFLGov.net.

Additional information and links are available by visiting the County’s Building & Subtrade Permits page or contact Permitting@HCFLGov.net with any questions.
