Vern Buchanan, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently shared several updates on social media concerning national issues and legislative developments.

On June 20, 2025, Buchanan addressed an incident involving Rep. Max Miller. “Today, @RepMaxMiller — a proud Jewish American and U.S. Marine — was ran off the road by an insane man who shoved the Palestinian flag in his face and chanted ‘Death to Israel.’ Antisemitism has no place in America. Praying for the safety of Max and his family.” This tweet highlights Buchanan’s condemnation of antisemitism following a reported attack on Miller.

Later that day, Buchanan tweeted about tax relief efforts by House Republicans. “.@HouseGOP is delivering on President Trump’s promise to cut taxes for seniors. The bill provides $75 billion in relief to help seniors afford food, housing, and medicine.” He emphasized the fulfillment of promises made during Trump’s presidency regarding financial support for senior citizens.

In another post from June 20, Buchanan discussed economic benefits expected from recent legislation. “The One Big, Beautiful Bill delivers real relief to Floridians Wages will increase up to $11,000 Take-home pay will increase up to $12,700” He credited these outcomes as evidence of the House GOP’s commitment to prioritizing working Americans.

Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit in 1951 and resides in Sarasota. He graduated from Cleary University with a BA in 1975 and later earned another degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1986.
