Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of constituent services and ethical concerns in a series of posts on social media.

On August 14, 2025, Buchanan highlighted the record number of disability benefits claims processed by the Department of Veterans Affairs under the current administration: “Under @POTUS and @SecVetAffairs Doug Collins, the VA has processed more disability benefits claims this year than ever before.

If you or a loved one needs help with a VA claim, my office is ready to assist. Call my Bradenton office or visit: https://t.co/x5hKdvf597https://t.co/fKKSZydWEP” (August 14, 2025).

Later that day, Buchanan commented on congressional ethics regarding financial trading: “Agreed. The potential for unethical activity surrounding trading individual stocks is too high for members of Congress.” (August 14, 2025).

In another post on August 14, he detailed his office’s efforts to support local residents: “From Social Security to the VA, we’re here to help. So far this year, my team and I have secured over $6 million for FL-16 residents.

Don’t hesitate to contact my Bradenton or Brandon office or visit: https://t.co/x5hKdvf597https://t.co/GB4H5BnL5E” (August 14, 2025).

Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th district since replacing Katherine Harris in Congress in 2007. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
