U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in Congress, recently highlighted bipartisan cooperation, legislative efforts to support travel and tourism, and concerns about Florida agriculture in a series of posts on February 10, 2026.
In his first post of the day, Buchanan expressed appreciation for colleagues on the House Ways and Means Committee: “Thank you to @RepJasonSmith and @RepRichardNeal for their kind words and partnership on @WaysandMeansGOP. We’ve done important bipartisan work together, and the work is far from done. I look forward to continuing to deliver results for the American people.” (posted February 10, 2026).
Later that afternoon, Buchanan announced new legislation aimed at strengthening the travel sector ahead of a significant trade review: “Ahead of the USMCA joint review and as America prepares for its 250th anniversary, I’m proud to introduce the USMCA Travel and Tourism Resiliency Act with @GusBilirakis to ensure travel and tourism has a seat at the table and supports jobs nationwide.” (posted February 10, 2026).
Addressing local issues in his home state, Buchanan also posted about agricultural challenges caused by extreme weather: “Florida agriculture is facing a crisis after record-breaking freezes devastated crops across our state. Proud to join @RepKatCammack and members of the Florida Delegation in urging @USDA to issue a Disaster Declaration so farmers and ranchers can recover.” (posted February 10, 2026).
Vern Buchanan has served in Congress since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951, Buchanan resides in Sarasota. He holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
