U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district, recently addressed topics ranging from education and school choice to artificial intelligence and national unity in a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 12, 2025, Buchanan shared his meeting with local education officials: “Great to meet with members of the @FLSchoolBoards to discuss how we can improve education by empowering parents and expanding school choice. Together, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.”
The following day, September 13, Buchanan commented on the legacy of Charlie Kirk: “Charlie Kirk was a leader who inspired a generation. His legacy of engaging face-to-face, even with those he disagreed with, will live on. As @POTUS said, the path forward is unity. We’ll honor Charlie’s legacy and keep America strong.”
On September 14, Buchanan highlighted advancements in artificial intelligence through collaborative efforts: “By advancing AI through strong public-private collaboration, we’re fostering innovation and delivering real results for the American people. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for future generations to inherit a stronger and more prosperous America.”
Buchanan has served in Congress since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris as representative for Florida’s 16th district. He previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
