Rep. Vern Buchanan, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, recently used his social media platform to highlight meetings and legislative priorities focused on banking, pediatric health care, and small business optimism.
On September 9, 2025, Buchanan posted about his engagement with state financial leaders: “It was a pleasure to meet with members of the @floridabankers Association to discuss ways to support local banks and advance a commonsense deregulatory agenda. As we strengthen Florida’s economy, I remain committed to advancing pro-growth policies that support small businesses.”
The following day, September 10, he addressed efforts in children’s health policy: “Great to meet with Dr. Larry Moss, CEO of @Nemours Children’s Health, to discuss how we can improve pediatric care and outcomes. As Chair of the @WaysandmeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I’m committed to advancing policies that support children’s health in Florida and nationwide.”
Later on September 10, Buchanan cited recent trends in small business sentiment: “Main Street is winning again. @NFIB reports small business optimism is improving, with owners seeing stronger sales. The @HouseGOP Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering real results for small businesses and workers.”
Buchanan has held his seat in Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. His academic background includes degrees from Cleary University (1975) and the University of Detroit Mercy (1986).
