Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, has shared several updates via his social media account on recent activities and policy positions. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Buchanan has a longstanding career in public service following his academic pursuits at Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
On July 6, 2025, Buchanan expressed support for the current administration’s policies by stating that “.@POTUS and a Republican majority have delivered on our promise to the American people to restore America First policies.”
The following day, on July 7, he highlighted his engagement with local community leaders by noting that it was “Great to meet with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee (@JFEDSRQ) to discuss issues impacting American Jews and reaffirm my support for Florida’s Jewish community.” He emphasized the need to combat antisemitism by asserting that “we must make it clear that antisemitic violence has no place in America.”
Later on July 7, Buchanan addressed concerns regarding attacks on law enforcement personnel. He remarked that “Law enforcement officers are being ambushed outside ICE and Border Patrol sites,” stressing these incidents are not random but targeted. He called for legislative action through his proposed Thin Blue Line Act to ensure severe penalties for those who attempt harm against police officers.
Vern Buchanan’s ongoing commitment reflects his dedication to various national and local issues as he continues his congressional duties from Sarasota.
