Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on July 22, 2025, addressing legislative actions and policy positions on veterans’ care, international trade, and Medicaid reform.
In a post made at 13:38 UTC, Buchanan stated: “Veterans served our nation and defended our freedoms. They deserve nothing less than quality benefits, services and care.
Last night, I voted for the PRO Veterans Act to increase transparency in the VA budget and establish a new office dedicated to improving care and benefits.”
Later that day at 15:16 UTC, he highlighted his role as Chairman of @house_democracy and discussed global trade: “As Chairman of @house_democracy, I’ve traveled to over 85 countries. One thing is clear: the world wants to trade with America.
We need fair, win-win deals that strengthen the U.S. economy and protect American jobs.”
At 16:46 UTC on the same day, Buchanan addressed concerns about proposed changes to Medicaid: “Don’t believe the myths.
The ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ strengthens Medicaid by eliminating fraud, restoring commonsense work requirements and ensuring the program serves those who truly need it.”
Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th district since 2007 after succeeding Katherine Harris. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan graduated from Cleary University in 1975 and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
