Rep. Vern Buchanan, who has represented Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress since 2007, shared updates on his recent meetings and legislative priorities in a series of posts on September 5, 2025.
In one post, Buchanan highlighted a discussion with Space Florida’s CEO Rob Long: “Great to meet with Rob Long, CEO of @SpaceFlorida, to discuss exciting opportunities to grow Florida’s leadership in aerospace innovation. I’m proud to support efforts like the Cape Canaveral Act that strengthen Florida’s role in America’s space economy.” (September 5, 2025)
Addressing economic policy, Buchanan wrote: “.@HouseGop has delivered the largest tax cut for working families in history. In Florida alone, families will see an average $12,700 boost in yearly take-home pay.” (September 5, 2025)
He also referenced engagement with local business leaders: “It was a pleasure hosting leaders from the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance in Washington, D.C. Always great to hear from local job creators and entrepreneurs about how we can keep Florida’s economy strong and support the small businesses that drive it.” (September 5, 2025)
Buchanan has served as the congressional representative for Florida’s 16th district since replacing Katherine Harris in 2007. Before joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan graduated from Cleary University and later from the University of Detroit Mercy.
