U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, who has served Florida’s 16th district in Congress since 2007, recently used his social media platform to highlight issues ranging from agricultural policy to healthcare innovation and international trade.
On July 30, 2025, Buchanan emphasized the importance of agriculture in his district by stating, “Manatee County’s tomato crop has historically been the largest in Florida and one of the largest nationwide. By making the small business deduction permanent, @HouseGOP’s tax cuts for small businesses let our farmers reinvest in the people at the heart of their companies.”
Later that day, Buchanan turned attention to health care advancements as Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee. He posted on July 30, 2025: “Health at your Fingertips As Chair of the @WaysandMeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I support @POTUS and @CMSGov’s effort to bring health care into the digital age. This is how we Make America Healthy Again.”
On July 31, 2025, Buchanan praised a new international agreement: “.@POTUS has done it again! The new trade deal with South Korea secures over $450 billion in investment supporting American workers and driving economic prosperity. “
Buchanan represents a district with significant agricultural output; Manatee County is recognized for its large tomato production both within Florida and nationally. In addition to his focus on agriculture and economic policy, Buchanan’s recent statements reflect ongoing efforts by lawmakers to modernize healthcare through digital initiatives—a process supported by both Congress and federal agencies.
Vern Buchanan was born in Detroit in 1951 and currently resides in Sarasota. He holds degrees from Cleary University (1975) and the University of Detroit Mercy (1986). Prior to joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives.
