Rep. Vern Buchanan, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, highlighted recent legislative and healthcare initiatives in a series of posts on March 30, 2026.
In his first post of the day, Buchanan emphasized the widespread impact of Alzheimer’s disease, stating “Alzheimer’s doesn’t just impact patients—it impacts entire families. Through my bipartisan ASAP Act, we’re working to expand early detection and ensure families get the support they need to face this disease.” This message was posted at 00:21 UTC.
Later that afternoon, Buchanan addressed advancements in cancer research within his state. He wrote on March 30 at 15:12 UTC: “Florida is leading the way in cancer research and innovation. I recently met with Dr. Patrick Hwu of @MoffittNews to discuss expanding access to cutting-edge care and advancing technologies that improve patient outcomes across Florida.”
In another post later that evening, Buchanan reiterated his focus on Alzheimer’s support for families. At 20:36 UTC he stated: “Behind every Alzheimer’s diagnosis is a family worried about their loved one. My ASAP Act focuses on early detection so patients and caregivers can access support sooner and better manage this disease. Giving families and patients more time, options and hope.”
Buchanan has been active in Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007, following previous service in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951, he currently resides in Sarasota. He holds degrees from Cleary University (1975) and the University of Detroit Mercy (1986).
