Rep. Vern Buchanan, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 16th district since 2007, has recently highlighted several legislative and community issues through his social media posts.
On April 2, 2026, Buchanan posted about constituent support for early Alzheimer’s screening: “More than 95% of my constituents support expanding early Alzheimer’s screening, and I couldn’t agree more. Early detection means more time, better care and better outcomes. I’m working alongside @RepPaulTonko to expand access to screenings through our bipartisan ASAP Act.”
Later that day, he addressed tax policy changes benefiting Americans during the current filing season: “Americans are already seeing the difference this filing season. Nearly half of tax filers are claiming new deductions thanks to @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts. More relief Bigger refunds Stronger paychecks”
On April 3, 2026, Buchanan shared a message reflecting on Good Friday: “On this Good Friday, we reflect on sacrifice, grace and the enduring promise of hope.”
Buchanan has represented Florida’s 16th District in Congress since succeeding Katherine Harris in 2007. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Detroit in 1951 and currently residing in Sarasota, Buchanan holds degrees from Cleary University and the University of Detroit Mercy.
