Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents Florida’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress and serves as Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting legislative priorities and health innovation.
On September 23, 2025, Buchanan expressed support for House leadership, stating: “Absolutely right, @SpeakerJohnson. @HouseGOP is keeping the government open, protecting seniors, paying our troops and putting America first. “
The following day, he emphasized mental health care access: “We must expand access to mental health care and raise awareness of the resources available. As Chair of the @WaysandMeansGOP Health Subcommittee, I’ll continue fighting to ensure families have the support they need.” This post underscores his ongoing commitment to health policy in his role as subcommittee chair.
Later on September 24, Buchanan discussed meeting with Tom Hale, CEO of Oura Ring: “Recently met with @ouraring CEO Tom Hale to discuss how wearables can transform preventive health. Buchanan has served in Congress since 2007 after replacing Katherine Harris and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. He was born in Detroit in 1951 and resides in Sarasota. His educational background includes degrees from Cleary University (1975) and University of Detroit Mercy (1986).
